This Seminar will be dedicated to some core topics discussed by the late Peter Kooijmans in his dissertation on the doctrine of the legal equality of states.

The Seminar grew out of the recently published special issue of the Netherlands Yearbook of International Law which revisits the idea of legal equality in light of developments in the international legal order since the publication of Kooijmans’ book in the 1960’s.

The seminar is the result of a cooperation between the ACIL, the Netherlands Yearbook of International Law and the host, VU University Faculty of Law.
