Carolyn Edgerton is a Canadian lawyer and legal consultant, who worked as a trial attorney at the Office of the Prosecutor of the ICTY where she investigated and prosecuted leading political and military figures indicted for genocide, war crimes and violations of international humanitarian law. On Wednesday, 25 September 2019 she will give a lecture entitled 'Prosecuting international crimes before the ICTY and the tribunal’s legacy in former Yugoslavia' as part of ACIL's Global Justice lecture series.

The Speaker

Carolyn Edgerton is a Canadian lawyer who started her career as Legal Counsel investigating Second World War war crimes. From 1994 to 2017 she was a trial attorney at the Office of the Prosecutor of the ICTY where she investigated and prosecuted leading political and military figures indicted for genocide, war crimes and violations of international humanitarian law, including Stanislav Galic, Momcilo Krajisnik, Slobodan Milosevic, Dragomir Milosevic, Momcilo Perisic, Milutinovic et al., and Ratko Mladic. Edgerton works as a consultant in the field of prosecutorial and investigative strategies for complex criminal cases.
