Are you a curious and creative researcher with a background in the theory or philosophy of (international) law and an interest in decolonial approaches? Then take a look at this position of Postdoctoral Research at the Law Faculty of the University of Amsterdam. The deadline to apply is 28 February.

You will be conducting innovative research and be actively contributing to a research topic entitled Integrity and Objectivity in Legal Research: What Should Legal Analysis Become? The project is embedded within the Amsterdam Center for International Law (ACIL) and connects to the University Research Priority Area (RPA) ‘Decolonial Futures’ – a collaboration between the faculties of Law, Humanities (lead), and Social and Behavioural Sciences (starting in January 2023).

On the one hand, ‘new humanities’ generally, and critical legal theory in particular, has emphasized the partiality and situatedness of all knowledge production. On the other hand, past and present predicaments and a future-oriented approach might push for a renewed acceptance of universals. Rightly so? Relatedly, the Law Faculty’s report on Scientific Integrity demands a renewed take on crucial questions about inescapably situated knowledge that still aspires towards universality.
