His doctoral research explored the International Rights of Nature Tribunal and international law. The project tells a story about international legal practices and procedures that are operationalised alongside the Westphalian international legal order, and considers what the Tribunal visualises about the discipline of international law and its relation with the environment. At UvA, Tim joins the SGEL project conducted by ACIL, the Amsterdam Center for European Law and Governance and the Amsterdam Center for Transformative Private Law. His project will theorise the relationship between place and international law, and how international law takes shape in response to a rapidly changing environment.

Prior to joining UvA, Tim was a sessional Lecturer at Melbourne Law School where he conducted his PhD research under the Institute for International Law and the Humanities (IILAH). He has been a returning faculty member for the Oxford Consortium for Human Rights and a visiting scholar at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law at the University of Cambridge. He obtained a Master’s in International Law from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London and a BA in Global Studies from Westminster University.
